COMPTEL,
in concert with Fujitsu, just recently completed the installation
of a two-shift, 500-agent inbound Call Center for FEMA. The
project began on a Saturday morning. By Sunday morning, a system was
in place and programmed to support 75 agents. This number was
then systematically expanded over the next week to support in excess of
500 active agents, 27 inbound T1 circuits, and the capability to handle
more than 650 simultaneous inbound calls. Fujitsu
and COMPTEL met all FEMA
objectives on a very aggressive schedule that even FEMA doubted
could actually be achieved! The
Inter-Tel Axxess system also
proved to be up to the task. Of the over 600 telephones placed, only
four had to be replaced. All other portions of the system operated
flawlessly. The Call Center Suite system management software was
used to report on all facets of the ACD operation. FEMA noted
that its visual aid reporting style and ease of configuration were an
unexpected plus. As configured, this installation is believed to be the
largest
Inter-Tel ACD system in Texas, and one of the largest in the
nation.
Because
of the success of this project, FEMA is currently investigating the
possibility of further expansion upward to 1,000 active ACD agents.
